Calculation Methodology

Fully-loaded human cost: BLS OEWS national median wage × 1.43× BLS ECEC employer cost factor. The 1.43× covers: benefits (health, dental, vision, retirement, PTO: ~30–33%), employer payroll taxes (FICA: 7.65%), overhead allocation (office, equipment, software: ~5%), and management overhead (time cost of managing the FTE: ~3%).

AI stack cost: Annual platform/API fees based on published Q1 2026 vendor pricing + 15% annual maintenance + one-time setup amortized over 36 months + 0.35 FTE oversight. Ranges reflect entry-level to enterprise configurations.

AI autonomy scores (1–10): Based on three-factor model: (1) task structure (% of role tasks that are rule-based and repeatable), (2) data availability (quality and accessibility of training/input data), (3) error tolerance (cost of an AI mistake in this role). Scale: 1–3 = low AI capability, 4–5 = medium hybrid, 6–7 = high hybrid, 8–10 = strong AI candidate.
